**Wallingford Police Department Activates Full-Time Crime Suppression Unit**

The Wallingford Police Department has officially established its Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) as a full-time operational unit following a successful trial period within the Patrol Division.

During its initial deployment, the CSU proved to be a valuable asset by assisting patrol officers with complex and time-consuming investigations. The unit has taken the lead on cases involving property crimes and violent crimes, allowing patrol officers to remain available to respond to calls for service while ensuring thorough follow-up investigations.

Due to the unit’s success, Chief Ventura has authorized the CSU to operate as a permanent component of the department. The unit will collaborate with the Patrol Division, Detective Division, federal task force officers, and the department’s K-9 Unit to identify crime trends and carry out proactive enforcement.

The Crime Suppression Unit enhances our ability to respond quickly to emerging criminal activity while supporting the efforts of our patrol officers and investigators. This proactive approach allows the department to allocate the necessary time and resources to hold offenders accountable and ensure community safety.

Through continued teamwork and proactive policing strategies, the department remains committed to ensuring that residents can safely enjoy all that the Town of Wallingford has to offer.
